Caroline Kampfraath has been fascinated by portaits ever since the early start of her career. Beside her more abstract work the making of portraits in bronze on order has her special attention and dedication.
How a portrait is made
Based on pictures made by herself or placed at her disposal by the principal Caroline starts to make a tentative version in Chamotteclay. When possible a session of about an hour at the studio is to be held with the subject of the portrait. In the studio the portrait is elaborated further. After a couple of weeks a next session at the studio is planned and the finishing touch is put to the portrait. Finally the portrait is shipped to the foundry where it is finished in bronze.
